Your entire post smells of the nostalgic notion that yesterday was heaven, today sucks and tomorrow will be hell. We have never had an abundance of 'principled' people. They have *always* been in short supply.
I also can't help but notice that you failed to mention the actions you took in this meeting. Is this because you are modest or unprincipled?
