So I managed to find my way to a page describing the Freedom Tower. The first picture doesn't look all that bad, but there are still some criticisms I want to lay:
- First off the bat: WTF is that thing sticking off the top for? Does it seriously serve a purpose or can it be lopped off or filled with actual floors? A roof without would look a lot better.
- Second up: Are we really expecting truck bombs and what not to pull up to it? The bottom of the building looks like bunker. Can't we design things to look good yet serve their purpose?
- And finally: Where is its twin? Two identical buildings got knocked down, and we only build one! Throw up a second one!
The actual building will be a marvel, but not a perfect marvel. It will definitely be a peek into the cities of the 21st century. To bad it's topped with superficiality and stands alone.
