Actually, SIMPLE (IM-over-SIP) is more in competetion with XMPP. SIP is more a phone-related thing. And apparently its quite good, compared to the pile that SIMPLE is.

there's no even a standard for voip over xmpp.
Nolan, just stop this anti-sip theme in your blog, there's no need for that at all.
Sip and xmpp can work together just fine.
