A friend just told me about Google's Orkut. I never heard of it, and I decided to check it out. What I found was a prime example of a site that gives me absolutely no reason to sign up.

Unlike MySpace, Orkut doesn't allow me to browse who actually uses it unless I sign up. That doesn't allow me to find that one cute girl on there that would propel me to sign up just because I want to message her.

If I could just do that I might just sign up. As it stands I have absolutely no reason to ever go back to Orkut, and most of all I have no reason to mention it to my friends. This is a prime reason why a site fails, giving no reason to join.
